Kaspa Road parking lot is currently the primary access to the Mount Tzouhalem Forest Reserve, which is home to a variety of hiking and biking trails.  Through this single access point, approximately 50% of all visitor trips to the forest reserve occur (40,000 of the estimated total of 80,000 visitor trips).  At times this parking lot is overwhelmed and as a consequence it impacts our neighbours below.

The parking lot is being expanded from approximately 30 current spots to 59 identifiable spots, and will result in clearing and developing approximately 0.3 hectares of forested land immediately above the existing lot.

We will be commencing logging of where the new parking lot is to be built on Monday, January 22nd with anticipating completion of logging, and clean up of the parking lot, on or before February 2nd, weather pending.  During this time period - MON, JAN 22ND TO FEB 2ND - NO ACCESS TO THE PARKING LOT  EXCEPT ON WEEKENDS will be permitted.

Other closures are occuring as construction moves forwards as follows (will be updated as needed):

  1. Lower section of Double D - closed starting Monday, January 2nd until further notice (part of the trail to be re-aligned as it will be affected by the parking lot expansion).
  2. De-Analyzer - closed while construction is occuring on the lower section only.  Minor trail alignment is expected during lower lot refinement.
  3. Additional Parking Lot Closure - Construction closures of the parking lot between February 13th and March 30th.  Specifics to be released once we have construction timelines finalized.
