Local Government Awareness

Local Government Awareness Week: May 15-21, 2016

The Local Government Awareness Week in BC helps you get to know your local government, and to learn more about the many programs and services that North Cowichan provides. North Cowichan is planning some fun activities for the community during this week. Here's how you can participate:

  • Visit North Cowichan and the CVRD at the Chemainus Market on Wednesday, May 25 and the Duncan Farmers' Market on Saturday, May 28. We'll have giveaways, info, and prizes!
  • Participate in the local government trivia contest on 89.7 JuiceFM daily between May 16-20! They'll read a question on-air, and you can answer online to enter into a draw for prizes!
  •  Participate in our photo contest, running from May 16-20. You can enter photos in three categories: 1) Active in North Cowichan, 2) Scenery in North Cowichan, and 3) Public Works in North Cowichan (e.g. roads, sidewalks, water pipes, etc). The Mayor will pick the winning photo in each category and winners will receive prizes!
  • Come to the Council meeting on Wednesday, May 18 or watch it online!

National Public Works Week: May 15-21, 2016

We're also celebrating National Public Works Week! The purpose of this week is to enhance awareness about and acknowledge the work of the many people who provide and maintain civil infrastructure and services.

We invite you to participate in our photo contest during this week, which has a category dedicated to the importance of public works on our daily lives.
