What Are They?The Community Planning Awards have been DISCONTINUED, effective January 2012. 2011 Community Planning Awards CANCELLED Due to lack of nominations, the 2011 Community Planning Awards were cancelled. Although we were looking forward to offering this program in 2012, it has now been discontinued. We appologize and thank those who have submitted nominations. Purpose of Community Planning AwardsThe purpose of the Community Planning Awards was to recognize innovative development/redevelopment activities or projects that have been completed within the last six years in the Municipality of North Cowichan. Those activities could range from neighbourhood spruce-up projects, to individual home renovation or redevelopment to subdivision developments, from commercial renovations to habitat enhancement. The program was created by the Municipality's Advisory Planning Commission, celebrating the best efforts of North Cowichan's community builders. Nominations were welcomed from individual home owners, business owners, developers, school/youth groups, and anyone else from the Municipality who is aware of or has participated in construction, beautification, or environmental projects that enhance the community. Self-nominated projects were also welcome. Who Can Be Nominated?Nominations were made for innovative projects that worked towards the following goals. Those projects could have been completed by individual home owners, organizations, businesses, public agencies, or schools/youth groups who are located in the Municipality of North Cowichan. The Goals:
