2012 Road Projects

Somenos Road Sidewalk and Repaving (Drinkwater Road to Hawkes Boulevard)

Construction of sidewalk on west side, widening road to add bike lanes and paved walkway on east side, drainage culvert replacement and repaving.

Lakes Road Overlay (Beverly Street to Tzouhalem Road)

Repaving this section of Lakes Road to north side of Petro Canada gas station which is the City of Duncan boundary.  This work will be done following completion of the new dike on Lakes Road.

Victoria Road Sidewalk and Repaving (Cook Street to Douglas Street)

Construction of sidewalk on the west side, widening road to add bike lanes and paved walkway on east side, replacement of the old clay sewermain, copper water services and drain extension, and repaving.

Maple Bay Road Overlay

Repaving a 750 metre section of Maple Bay Road.

Chemainus Road/Victoria Road Roundabout

Construction of a roundabout at this intersection working with the adjacent Chemainus Commercial site developer who will be providing land and a retaining wall as part of their development.

Drinkwater Road Sidewalk and Repaving (Somenos Road to 400 metres east)

Construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Drinkwater Road, widening road to add bike lanes and a paved walkway on north side, traffic calming narrowing at several locations, installation of storm drain and repaving.

Beverly Street Sidewalk, Widening and Repaving (Lakes Road to Howard Avenue)

Re-construction of Beverly Street including new sidewalk and boulevard on north side, bike lanes, pump station and storm drain replacement (funded separately), sewermain replacement (funded from sewer funds), dike construction (funded from dike fund), repaving and landscaping.

Tzouhalem Road @ Lakes Road Intersection

Construction of a right turn lane on Tzouhalem Road fronting the Petro Canada gas station including sidewalk construction.

Kingsview Road @ Donnay Drive Crosswalk

Construction of a refuge island in the middle of Kingsview Road to narrow the crossing distance.

Jaynes Road Retaining Wall

Replacement of a wood retaining wall at 5848 Jaynes Road with a concrete wall.

Pine Street and Daniel Street Sidewalks

Completion of sidewalk on Pine Street and Daniel Street at the same time the Chemainus Commercial Development completes their required sidewalk work on Daniel, Pine and Oak Streets.

Chemainus Road Design

Design of roundabouts at Victoria Street and River Road as well as design for the upgrade of Chemainus Road between Henry Road and Victoria Street.
