BC Summer Games - Public Meeting
The Island Savings Centre Commission and the Municipality's Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee are holding a meeting at the Island Savings Centre on Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. to gauge the level of community support to host the BC Summer Games in either 2016 or 2018. The purpose of the meeting will be to gather input from the public and from sports groups to determine if there is sufficient community support to apply for and successfully stage the BC Summer Games. An overview of the games, sports, host community and commitment will be presented at the meeting. For more information please contact Ron Austen at 250-746-2635 or Ernie Mansueti at 250-746-3110.

North Cowichan Council Makes Difficult Budget Decision
Following a very challenging budgeting process, and after much deliberation, Council has adopted its 2012 - 2016 Financial Plan. Council recognized the need to make a significant change to its tax structure to ensure the financial stability of the Municipality moving forward. Read the Mayor's Message to residents. 

Kitchen Organics Collection Begins in May 2012
North Cowichan is expanding your curbside collection to include Kitchen Organics. Weekly Kitchen Organics Collection begins in May when the new collection schedule takes effect. In April, containers with start-up kits will be delivered to all residences receiving curbside service from the municipality, and Open Houses will be held with staff on hand to answer your questions. Climate Action and Energy Plan
North Cowichan wants to hear your ideas about how we can reduce energy use and our impact on our climate. What steps can we take as a community to promote reach our sustainability goals? Start by checking out our interactive forum and then plan to attend the upcoming public workshop scheduled at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Vancouver Island University.

Official Community Plan Adopted
North Cowichan Council approved the Official Community Plan Bylaw and Development Permit Guidelines at its July 20, 2011, regular meeting. The Municipality thanks everyone who participated in this process.
