Budget 2012 - We Need to Hear from You!
North Cowichan has begun preparing its 2012-2016 Financial Plan and is facing many financial challenges. In order to have meaningful input into this process and to ensure the Municipality can operate from a sound financial position moving forward, Council encourages the public to attend the next budget meeting scheduled for Monday, January 30, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the Council Chambers.

Climate Action and Energy Plan
North Cowichan intends to address our community's climate impacts and energy use - with your help. We want to hear from the citizens of North Cowichan. What are the ideas and actions, big and small, that will lead us to a low impact, sustainable future? You have the ideas that will help North Cowichan be a leader in sustainability. Workshops and online engagement are your opportunity to tell us what needs to be done and how we're going to do it.

Check out the amazing interactive forum! Leave your ideas for sustainability, climate change adaptation and green economy actions here. You can also comment on people's suggestions, vote for what you like or dislike.

Development Cost Charges
Following three readings, North Cowichan’s proposed Development Cost Charges Bylaw has been revised to reflect phasing-in of new rates over the next three years. The Municipality thanks those who provided input during the review process. Please direct further inquiries to horton@northcowichan.ca.

Active Transportation Planning
The area in and around Duncan is undergoing a pedestrian and cycling safety and access review. The Duncan Active Transportation Plan is a joint initiative of the City of Duncan, Cowichan Tribes and the Municipality of North Cowichan. Use this link to fill in a short survey that will help us determine priorities and to see our press release.

Official Community Plan Adopted
North Cowichan Council approved the Official Community Plan Bylaw and Development Permit Guidelines at its July 20, 2011, regular meeting. The Municipality thanks everyone who participated in this process.
