Harbours and Wharves

The Municipality of North Cowichan operates public wharves in Chemainus, Crofton, and Maple Bay. The wharves at Chemainus and Maple Bay are owned by the Municipality. The Crofton wharf is owned by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and operated under agreement by North Cowichan. The facilities are managed on a day-to-day basis by the wharfinger, with oversight and direction from the Municipality.

Chemainus Wharf

  • Overnight Moorage: 685 feet
  • Reservations: Yes
  • Power: 30 Amp & 50 Amp available
  • Amenities: water, washrooms and showers
  • Day Moorage (when available):  up to 40 feet, over 40 feet up to 60 feet, and over 60 feet. Please note that after 4:00pm, overnight moorage applies.
  • Monitors VHF Channel 66A

Crofton Wharf

  • Reservations: No
  • Power: 20 Amp & 30 Amp available
  • Dock Space: 1000 feet
  • Amenities: water, washrooms (public washrooms are opened from 6am – 7pm daily. Please note: hours may vary depending on weather and season)
  • Shower: shower is open during public washroom hours. If door to shower is locked, it is in use.
  • Transient Moorage: Available when the fishing fleet is out for the summer
  • Rafting is permitted - Use Chart No. 3475, or 3442

Maple Bay Wharf

  • Reservations: No
  • Dock Space: 300 feet
  • Amenities: Water (at the bottom of the ramp)
