View Street Watermain Replacement
Work for the View Street Watermain Project is set to begin.
- Construction dates: September 18 to November 30, 2023
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm
- Roads: View Street between Douglas Street and Victoria Road, Chemainus
- Contractor: Leuco Construction Inc.
What to expect
The traffic interruptions are expected to consist of minor delays due to single lane alternating traffic and there may be periods of road closures with local traffic access only. Impacted Residents will be advised of important information such as planned interruptions to water service and driveway access throughout the term of the construction program.
The work includes:
This project consists of two parts: the replacement of approximately 130m of 150mm cast iron pipe in the north end of View Street and the replacement of approximately 250m of 100mm asbestos cement pipe in the south end. Due to rocky ground conditions in the south end section, it has been determined that a direct removal and replacement of the watermain is required. With this type of construction process a temporary overland water service line will be installed, complete with connections to each home during construction.
