How to Report a Burning Violation
During certain times of the year, North Cowichan receives numerous reports about suspected violations of open burning requirements. If you wish to submit a complaint about a suspected burning violation, please consider the following guidelines:
- Reports can be provided by email bylaw@northcowichan.ca or phone 250.746.3108
- Details enable us to follow-up; information such as the address where the violation is suspected to be occuring and the date and time of the suspected violation are necessary in order for staff to respond to a complaint
North Cowichan's bylaw compliance staff have many competing priorities and commitments across the Municipality. Accordingly, please do not expect them to respond to your report immediately. However, if you provide an address for a suspected violation, you can be assurred that North Cowichan will follow-up with the owners/occupants to ensure that they are aware of the requirements for open burning.
