Wood Stoves - Operation and Incentives
Community Wood Smoke Reduction Program
New wood burning appliances can reduce emissions by up to 87% when compared to pre-1994 appliances! The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) administers the Community Wood Smoke Reduction Program in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. Residents of North Cowichan are eligible to receive incentives when exchanging an old wood burning appliance for a new one.
Visit the CVRD's Community Wood Smoke Reduction Program webpage for information on the wood stove exchange program and how to make the most of your wood burning appliance!
Please note: To meet climate targets set out in the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030, exchanges from wood stoves to natural gas or propane-fired appliances will no longer be supported under the program after January 1, 2023.
