Parks and Trails Master Plan
On Monday, January 30, 2017, Mayor and Council endorsed the final Parks & Trails Master Plan which provides guiding direction for the resourcing, development, management, provision and expansion of our parks and trails over the next 15 years. Developed over the last 16 months, the Master Plan involved consultation with residents, community groups, adjacent local and First Nations governments and many stakeholders from various interest groups.
This plan is a system-wide strategic plan that guides the resourcing, development, management, provision and expansion of our parks and trails over the next 15 years. Reflecting the desires of the community, the plan has identified strategies and actions to improve our extraordinary quality of life, as well as the health and well-being of our residents and the community as a whole. This Parks and Trails Master Plan will help make the Municipality of North Cowichan a leader in municipal protected area management. The Municipality will continue to gain recognition as a sought-after destination for active recreation, including hiking, mountain biking, hiking and whitewater paddling. As demand for the Municipality of North Cowichan’s parks and trails grows, this Master Plan will provide a clear guide to decision-makers.
