Sportsfields

Sportsfields

Playing sports is one of the keyways of keeping active, fit and healthy. Participating in team sports also provides residents with many opportunities to engage, network and connect with people in your community. Our Parks Department works closely with local community sports organizations to provide outdoor sporting opportunities year-round.

Five parks within the municipality have sports fields available for use throughout the year which can accommodate baseball, soccer, softball, field lacrosse and track & field. These include:

Evans Park

Opened in 2011, Evans Park is a sportsfield complex centrally located on Somenos Road and is capable of hosting baseball, soccer, softball and field lacrosse. Included within its boundaries are 7 baseball/softball diamonds, 2 full size sportsfields, extensive walking trails, and a fieldhouse complete with washrooms and changerooms.

Sherman Road Park

Our premier home to soccer, Sherman Road Park includes 2 full size soccer pitches (1 with lights), 5 mini pitches and 1 junior soccer pitch. This park also includes full change room and washroom facilities, fully accessible playground great for all ages, and a walking trail.

Chemainus Ball Fields

Chemainus Ball Fields consist of one full sized baseball field and 3 smaller baseball fields. One of these smaller fields is also a fully fenced seasonal off leash dog park from September 1 to March 15. There are washrooms, changing rooms and a concession for public use during ball season. This area provides access to walking trails in the forested area along Askew creek.

Crofton Ball Fields

Nestled in the community hub near the Crofton Community Center, the Crofton fields accommodate two baseball fields and a mixed-use field that overlooks the Croton outdoor pool, two tennis courts, and two pickle ball courts. Visitors can also enjoy the playground or basketball net with a fabulous view of the ocean in this seaside town.

Properties Ball Fields

Located in Properties Park next to Maple Bay Elementary School, there are two baseball fields and one soccer pitch on the first level. Two tennis courts and three pickle ball courts are on the next level and a playground with a swing set in amongst the trees is on the third level. Several benches offer a shady spot to sit while children play among the trees.
