Innovative Housing Concepts

BACKGROUND

The Municipality of North Cowichan has partnered with Dr. Avi Friedman of McGill University (link to his bio here) to produce designs for two municipally owned development sites in Chemainus: Echo Heights/Humbird and the former Chemainus Elementary School site.

The intention of this partnership is to explore different ways of incorporating smart growth and sustainability principles into new housing developments as our community evolves and grows.

The ultimate goal would be to develop these sites as demonstration projects to set a precedent for future development in our community.
