Council Matters - June 4, 2014

The Council meeting held on June 4, 2014, will likely be remembered for the final reading and adoption of the Echo Heights Park Dedication Bylaw. With a 6-1 vote, Council created a nearly 50 acre park that will be enjoyed by generations to come. The remainder of the property will be subdivided and developed under the current R2 zoning and the proceeds will provide funding for community development projects. Now that this issue has been resolved, there are already volunteers stepping forward expressing their desire to participate in conservation efforts within the new Echo Heights Park.

Also, Council accepted the draft 2013 Annual Municipal Report which is now available for viewing on our website: Each year municipalities are required to prepare this informational report which promotes a greater understanding of municipal responsibilities and priorities, includes a complete financial report, and provides an opportunity for the community to provide input on municipal objectives. It is also a good opportunity to present what the municipality accomplished throughout the year.
