Council Matters - May 21, 2014

Although Council had a relatively short agenda for its regular meeting on May 21, the gallery was full. The majority of those attending were interested in the outcome of the second and third readings of the Park Dedication (Echo Heights) Bylaw. The Bylaw proposes to commit approximately 91% of Echo Heights to parkland. The remainder, a portion of the previously cleared area, would retain its current R2 (Residential) zoning and be available for development in the near future. After each Councillor had their say, the readings received near-unanimous approval by Council.

Fourth and final reading will occur on June 4, and if it passes, Council will have settled one of the community's most divisive issues of the last decade.
