Public Input Sought Regarding Corporate Sponsorship

North Cowichan Municipal Council invites public input on the subject of corporate sponsorship. Corporate sponsorship is a form of advertising in which companies pay to be associated with certain events or facilities. An example is the Island Savings Centre (formerly the Cowichan Community Centre), for which the Island Savings Credit Union is paying the Cowichan Valley Regional District $1 million dollars for corporate sponsorship over a 10-year period.

Council will be receiving a presentation and considering this topic at its next Regular Council meeting, scheduled for July 20, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in North Cowichan Council Chambers. Prior to its meeting, Council would like to hear from the public. What do you think about corporate sponsorship? Do you think it is a good way to raise additional revenue and keep property taxes down? Send your input to council@northcowichan.ca by 4 pm on July 19, 2016.

Those wishing to learn more about municipal options for corporate sponsorship are invited to review the report at Municipal Hall or www.northcowichan.ca/sponsorship. Council meetings are open to the public, streamed live, and available for viewing later at www.northcowichan.ca/councillive.
