Blue-Green Algal Blooms - Quamichan Lake

Quamichan Lake is prone to blue-green algal blooms. These blooms can produce toxins that may put your health at risk and be fatal to your pets.
Avoid ingesting or swimming in the water if you see signs of a blue-green algal bloom:
- Looks like spilled paint
- Has surface scum, mats or films
- Is discoloured or has coloured streaks
- Has green globs floating at the surface
Rinse off with fresh water and dry with a towel if you come into contact with affected water.
