Budget 2018: North Cowichan to Host Meetings for the Public

(October 12, 2017, North Cowichan, BC) North Cowichan invites the community to join the conversation and participate in the Budget 2018 Open House and Town Hall meetings. The meetings will include information about the draft budget, engagement activities, and a question and answer session with the Mayor and staff. Three meetings are planned in three different areas of the municipality and will take place from 6:00 8:00 p.m.

  • October 23, 2017 Island Savings Centre (Cowichan Suite/Mesachie Room)
  • October 25, 2017 Crofton Community Centre
  • October 26, 2017 Chemainus Seniors Centre

If you would like to learn about how your tax dollars are spent, if you are curious about projects planned for your community, or interested in decisions about the municipal budget, these are the meetings for you, says Mayor Jon Lefebure. The meetings give us the opportunity to hear whats important to North Cowichan citizens, helping us make decisions that reflect not only the values of Council, but residents, businesses and the community as a whole.

Feedback gathered from the public during the meetings will help guide aspects of the 2018 budget. The public input will be considered by Council as the 2018 budget develops over the next several months. Council will adopt the final 2018 budget in May of next year.

Everyone attending a Budget 2018 public meeting will receive a complimentary one-time use pass to use at a North Cowichan recreation facility (Cowichan Aquatic Centre or Fuller Lake Arena).

Residents who are unable to attend a meeting in person can join the Budget 2018 conversation on PlaceSpeak, the municipalitys online citizen engagement tool, starting October 23: www.placespeak.com/MNCbudget
