UPDATE: Chisholm Trail - re-opened to traffic
October 18, 2017
UPDATE: October 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
After the completion of a geotechnical assessment of a private retaining wall, the portion of Chisholm Trail between Genoa Bay Road and Redcap Street has now re-opened to traffic.
A portion of Chisholm Trail is closed between Genoa Bay Road and Redcap Street. While the road is closed, residents who live on Chisholm Trail can access their homes from both ends of the road, but are asked to be aware that there is no through access between Genoa Bay Road and Redcap Street.
This temporary closure is due to the failure of a retaining wall on private property along Chisholm Trail. Because of the road's narrowness, wall stability must be assessed to ensure that vehicles can safely pass by before the road will be opened. The Municipality will work with an engineer, the landowner, and builder to assess the wall and determine how it can be made safe.
The Municipality will reassess the situation and provide an update by 5:00 p.m. on October 19, 2017.
