Working Together Towards Noise Reduction
May 25, 2017
(May 25, 2017 North Cowichan, BC) The Municipality of North Cowichan continues to work with key stakeholders towards reducing noise generated at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit (VIMC) facility.
North Cowichan recognizes the concerns raised by nearby residents about noise originating at the test track and the VIMC has committed to working with North Cowichan and the community to address issues pertaining to the facility; accordingly, North Cowichan and VIMC have agreed, and have also extended an invitation to the Sahtlam Neighbourhood Association, to participate in a process to engage a facilitator and hire a consultant to undertake a sound modeling study and recommend a plan of action for noise reduction.
The Municipality is committed to working with the VIMC and the community to identify noise reduction actions that work for everyone, says Jon Lefebure, Mayor of North Cowichan.
The Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit opened in June 2016 and is located on a 46-acre parcel on the Cowichan Valley Highway adjacent to the Municipalitys western boundary with the Cowichan Valley Regional District.
