Storm Main Replacement along Sherman Road
August 27, 2018
(August 27, 2018, North Cowichan, BC) Residents in the Sherman Road area are asked to be aware of a storm main replacement project commencing late August and continuing until approximately the end of September. The project will replace a section of storm main between the Sherman Road soccer field parking lot and the east end of the Municipalitys property where the Duncan Curling Club is situated.
Signage will be placed in the project area in advance of the project start to provide notice to the neighbourhood.
Residents are requested to bear with some limited traffic interruptions during storm main replacement.
This project will require removal of approximately four trees on the Municipally-owned property where the Duncan Curling Club is located (nearest the east end of the property). These trees are located along the alignment of the new storm main at the east end of the project.
The need to replace this storm drain was identified in 2017 when the Municipality replaced the storm drains and added sidewalks on the south side of Sherman Road. Much of the underground infrastructure in this area is reaching the end of its lifecycle and the Municipality is replacing this infrastructure in phases.
