May 28, 2019
UPDATE - May 28, 2019: Island Health confirms that subsequent sampling at Maple Bay Beach shows entercocci bacteriology counts at a satisfactory level, and the beach advisory has been lifted.
Maple Bay Beach Advisory (May 15, 2019) |
Recent tests show entercocci bacteriology counts exceeding acceptable limits at Maple Bay Beach. A Beach Advisory has been issued for this beach, and swimming and wading are not recommended. This is based on guidance provided by Island Health. |
Signs indicating a "Beach Advisory" will be posted on site at Maple Bay Beach (including boat ramp area), and as a precautionary measure at Spring Street and Peters Lane beach accesses. |
Island Health, with support from North Cowichan, will increase the frequency of testing at these locations, and you can find more information about beach advisories, including frequently asked questions, on their website: https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/environment/recreational-water-beach-reports or by calling 250-737-2010. |
