Recent tests show entercocci bacteriology counts exceeding acceptable limits at Maple Bay Beach. A Beach Advisory has been issued for this beach, and swimming and wading are not recommendedThis is based on guidance provided by Island Health.
Signs indicating a "Beach Advisory" will be posted on site at Maple Bay Beach (including boat ramp area), and as a precautionary measure at Spring Street and Peters Lane beach accesses.
Island Health, with support from North Cowichan, will increase the frequency of testing at these locations, and you can find more information about beach advisories, including frequently asked questions, on their website: https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/environment/recreational-water-beach-reports or by calling 250-737-2010.
