North Cowichan Council Sets Priorities with New Strategic Plan
March 6, 2019
After several months of hard work and thoughtful revisions, Council has adopted the 2019-2022 Council Strategic Plan that establishes a vision and major priorities for this Council term. Moving forward, Council will consider all future projects and decisions through the lens of its Strategic Plan, to ensure that resources and staff capacity are focused on Council’s highest priorities.
“The value of Council’s Strategic Plan is that it unifies Council around a common set of priorities,” says Mayor Al Siebring. “Council created this plan together and all seven of our signatures are at the front of the document. The Plan also provides transparency to citizens, who can now see Council’s priorities up-front, and can let us know if we’re on track.”
The Council Strategic Plan will be used by staff to assist in budgeting, annual project planning, workforce planning, and performance measurement. “I’m looking forward to developing a complementary 2019-2022 Organizational Strategic Plan to provide further guidance to staff on supporting Council’s priorities,” says Chief Administrative Officer Ted Swabey. “These Plans will play a big part in our ongoing modernization and continuous improvement efforts.”
Council will accept feedback on the Strategic Plan and intends to review the document each year to confirm priorities and track progress.
