North Cowichan’s Community Budget Meetings Kick Off Next Week

(North Cowichan, BC) – The Municipality invites residents to attend one of three community meetings to learn about upcoming projects and priorities in the draft 2020 budget. The meetings give an opportunity for the public to meet Council members and staff, to learn about the services and future projects planned for your neighbourhood, (all paid for by property taxes), and to provide input on Council priorities.

“We look forward to getting out into the community to provide residents with a preview of the 2020 budget,” says Mayor Al Siebring. “This year we are really eager to receive feedback on the 2019-2022 Council Strategic Plan which will help identify priorities that may be reflected in the budget.”

The community budget meetings take place from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a presentation and Town Hall Q&A by the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday, October 22 – Chemainus Seniors’ Centre
  • Thursday, October 24 – Crofton Community Centre
  • Monday, October 28 – Ramada Hotel in Duncan

Residents unable to attend the in-person meetings can still learn about the draft 2020 Budget and complete a survey on Council’s Strategic Plan on PlaceSpeak, the municipality’s online engagement platform: Let’s Talk 2020.

Feedback will be considered by Council as the 2020 budget develops over the next several months. Council will adopt the final 2020 budget in May of next year.
