MODUS Awarded Contract for North Cowichan’s OCP Project
February 18, 2020
The Municipality of North Cowichan has awarded a contract for the Official Community Plan (OCP) project to Vancouver-based MODUS Planning, Design & Engagement. Five submissions were received in response to the request for proposals issued in late October. MODUS submitted the top-scoring proposal, demonstrating a sound project approach coupled with a qualified and experienced team.
This year,North Cowichan is undertaking a comprehensive review and update of the 2011 OCP. The OCP project will include robust, inclusive public and stakeholder consultation to inform a community vision and shape North Cowichan’s future. Over the next 14 months, MODUS will be responsible for developing a community vision, mapping local character, and developing a draft updated OCP. Following consultation with the community, North Cowichan Council will then consider adoption of the updated OCP.
Mayor Al Siebring says, “North Cowichan’s OCP sets out a vision for the next 20 years, and we as a local government look to it when making important decisions for land-use planning, infrastructure investments, and establishing community partnerships. It is vital that this vision represents all citizens, and I hope everyone in North Cowichan will get involved.”
