North Cowichan asks Residents to be Fire Smart over Long Weekend

(North Cowichan, BC) – As the long weekend approaches, North Cowichan is urging residents to be safe in the woods and reminds everyone that the recent warm weather means an increasing risk of wildfires.
Campfires are currently allowed in all areas of the province that fall under the BC Wildfire Service's jurisdiction. However, larger Category 2 and Category 3 open fires are prohibited in North Cowichan. People are urged to use caution and keep an ample supply of water nearby to fully extinguish their campfires.
