Open Burning Ban Remains in Place
September 16, 2020
The provincial government's open burning ban, issued on July 24, 2020, remains in place at this time. North Cowichan's fall burning window (September 15 - November 30) will not go into effect until the provincial ban is rescinded. This means no outdoor/backyard burning can take place, but small campfires are permitted if residents follow the guidelines found here: Campfires/Recreational Fire Pits.
Given the current heavy smoke in the Cowichan area, North Cowichan strongly recommends refraining from burning any woody debris at this time, to help lesson our collective impact during the COVID-19 pandemic.
