September 15, 2020, Property Tax Letter Not a Scam

Residents may have recently received a letter from North Cowichan dated September 15, 2020, regarding the upcoming September 30, 2020 property tax payment and deferral deadline.

It has been brought to our attention that the phone number in the letter rings through to an automated message which sounds like it may be a scam. While the letter is not a scam, there was an error in the phone number that was provided in the letter. If anyone is intending to defer their taxes beyond the September 30, 2020 deadline, please call 1-888-355-2700 or email TaxDeferment@gov.bc.ca.

Attached to these letters was a statement showing payment for your municipal property taxes has not yet been received. For those residents who do not wish to defer their taxes and intend to pay their outstanding property taxes, please do so by September 30, 2020.

If you have questions, please call us at 250.746.3100.
