Beach Advisories: Maple Bay, Fuller Lake and Kinsmen Beach

UPDATE: July 20, 2021 - the beach advisories for Fuller Lake Beach, Maple Bay Beach, and Kinsmen Beach in Chemainus, have all been lifted effective immediately.

“Swimming not recommended” advisories have been issued by Island Health for Fuller Lake Beach, Maple Bay Beach, and Kinsmen Beach in Chemainus, effective immediately.
Recent tests show bacteriological counts exceeding acceptable limits in the water at all three locations, and swimming and wading are NOT recommended. Signs indicating a "Beach Advisory" are being posted on-site at all three locations.
Island Health, with support from North Cowichan, will increase the frequency of testing at these locations, and you can find more information about beach advisories, including frequently asked questions, on Island Health’s website or by calling 250-737-2010.
