How do you envision North Cowichan growing over the next 20 years? Take the Survey!
May 14, 2021
(North Cowichan, BC) – A survey seeking input from residents on three future growth scenarios is now available and will be open until June 6, 2021. The feedback gathered from the survey will help inform the development of North Cowichan’s updated Official Community Plan (OCP).
In this significant phase of the OCP project, a land use plan will be developed with policies to help guide growth management and land use decisions for the next 20 years. Three growth scenarios have been prepared to show distinct options for how North Cowichan may grow in the future. Survey respondents are asked to share their feedback and preferences on these scenarios.
“It’s important to note that the scenarios are not “final,” says Mayor Al Siebring. “Rather, they outline three possible strategies around how and where to manage future growth. The final product will likely be a blend of these various options, based on the feedback we hear from residents. This is a significant step in updating our OCP; the survey is not a long one, but it’s an important one. I strongly encourage residents to learn more and to take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey.”
A webinar is scheduled on May 20, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. to provide more information on the OCP project and the topic of growth management. To register for the webinar and to take the survey, please visit www.northcowichan.ca/OCP.
