Flood update – November 17

(North Cowichan, BC) – Recovery efforts and damage assessments continue, two days past the peak of flooding. While most roads are now open, a few in North Cowichan remain closed:
- Mays Rd north (between Herd Rd & Relke Rd) - local traffic only
- Mays Rd south of Herd Rd - local traffic only
Canada Avenue will be fully open late afternoon today (Nov. 17) around 4:00 p.m. Genoa Bay Rd continues to be partially closed, but allowing single-lane alternating traffic at two locations (near the Maple Bay Marina, and 150 metres north of Genoa Bay village). Westholme Road remains unchanged, still covered in water, though it continues to recede.
The State of Local Emergency declared by the Cowichan Valley Regional District, including North Cowichan, remains in place at this time.
