State of Local Emergency declared due to flooding

Heavy rainfall causing flooding across Cowichan region, resulting in road closures and some resident evacuations
DUNCAN, BC – A State of Local Emergency has been declared for the Cowichan Valley Regional District and some of its member communities, as record rainfall continues to cause flooding of roads and neighbourhoods across the region.
The State of Local Emergency applies to areas of the Cowichan Valley Regional District, the Municipality of North Cowichan, City of Duncan, Cowichan Tribes, Halalt First Nation and Penelakut Tribe.
