Funding received for new child care in Crofton
(North Cowichan, BC) – North Cowichan has received provincial grant funding for 44 early learning and child care spaces in Crofton.
North Cowichan received $1.76 million in funding for the development of the Crofton Cubs Centre for Early Learning and Care in Crofton. Through a child care provider, the new space will support up to 44 new licenced spaces for infants, toddlers, and children up to kindergarten. The centre will involve local Elders in programming.
“This is very welcome news for Crofton families,” said Mayor Al Siebring. “Quality child care close to home will provide children with a safe and supportive environment.”
The ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund supports building new child care spaces, lowering fees, and training the skilled early childhood educators (ECEs) in communities throughout B.C.
Details between the Municipality and the child care provider are being finalized, and further information will be available in the coming weeks.
