Fire crews respond to structure fire

Crews responded to a structure fire at OK Tire
(North Cowichan, BC) – The North Cowichan Fire Department responded to a structure fire at OK Tire at 6482 Norcross Road at approximately 3:47 AM on January 2. The fire was contained to the area containing old tires and was extinguished by approximately 10:00 AM.
Forty-five firefighters from North Cowichan’s four halls (South End, Crofton, Chemainus, and Maple Bay) along with support from City of Duncan and Ladysmith fire departments were on site.
The Trans-Canada Highway was briefly closed in order to allow fire hoses access to hydrants across the highway.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined and North Cowichan and RCMP investigators are on scene.
