Gym and fitness centre at Cowichan Aquatic Centre to reopen January 20

(North Cowichan, BC) – The gym and fitness centre at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre will reopen on Thursday, January 20, following the update of provincial health orders on Tuesday. Gyms and fitness centres had been closed since December 23, in response to rising COVID-19 rates in B.C.

The new requirements include limits on numbers, and mandatory use of masks by instructors and staff. Gym and fitness centre patrons may remove masks while exercising.

People 12 and over are still required to show their BC Vaccine Card, along with government ID (for those 19 and older), to access aquatic and fitness centre spaces.

North Cowichan is also encouraging people who need municipal services to do so online or by phone, and minimize in-person visits to municipal hall. This includes online credit card payments for new or renewed dog licences and business licences, and increased online options for building permits and garbage/recycling schedules.
