Low-flying helicopter notice

Low-flying helicopter alert: People in the Copper Canyon area may notice a low-flying helicopter this weekend (November 18 to 20, 2022). The helicopter will be using LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) in order to map the upper Chemainus River watershed. This work will help better inform mitigation work as part of the Chemainus River flood plain mapping project, which is a collaboration between North Cowichan, CVRD, Ministry of Forests, Indigenous Services Canada, Halalt First Nation, Penelekut Tribe, and Emergency Management BC.
