Seven new members to be inducted into Sports Wall of Fame
September 15, 2022
(North Cowichan, BC) – The North Cowichan/Duncan Sports Wall of Fame honours the rich history of sports, coaches, athletes, teams, administrators and builders from our community. Updated every two years, the Wall of Fame recognizes individuals and teams that have made great achievements or contributed significantly to athletics locally, within the province, country, or the world.
We are excited to have seven new inductees added to the Sports Wall of Fame in 2022.
- Ken Williams – soccer
- Stuart Channel Little League baseball team – baseball
- Roy Price – umpire
- Dano Thorne – soccer coach
- Stan McKinlay – builder of softball
- Garrett Elliott – fastball
- Sheron Chrysler – builder of running
“We’re delighted to be back hosting the inductee ceremony, after a hiatus of the program during the pandemic,” said Councillor Tek Manhas, Chair of the Sports Wall of Fame Nomination Committee. “The Cowichan region has a strong community of past and present athletes, teams, coaches and builders, making it an easy decision to expand the number of inductees this year from five to seven. Congratulations to everyone on their amazing achievements."
Inductees will be honoured at a ceremony on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Cowichan Golf and Country Club.
The Sports Wall of Fame is located at the Cowichan Aquatic Centre. The new inductees will be recognized with a paver located on the new front entrance Walk of Fame, as well as a plaque and electronic biography on the Wall of Fame in the lobby.
