Speak at a Council, Committee of the Whole, or Special Council Meeting

We welcome public input at our meetings. If you'd like to speak to Council, you can submit a request using our Public Speaker Request Form.

When to submit:

The link to the form becomes available on this webpage 30 minutes before the open meeting resumes and closes 10 minutes before it starts.

Example timing:

  • If there's a closed (in-camera) session at 3:00pm and the open meeting resumes at 5:00pm, the form will be available from 4:30pm to 4:50pm.
  • If there is no closed session and the meeting begins at 5:00pm, the form will also be open from 4:30pm to 4:50pm.
  • When you submit your request, the screen will tell you what number you are in order.

Who can speak:

  • The first 5 people to submit the form will be invited to speak during the public input portion of the meeting.
  • The Mayor may allow additional speakers with the consent of Council.

Participate in a Council or Committee of the Whole meeting

To participate during the Public Input and/or Question Period portions of the agenda for a Council or Committee of the Whole meeting, you can:

  • attend Council Chambers at Municipal Hall in-person and speak at the podium, or
  • join the meeting electronically (see instructions below), or
  • by telephone.

Public participation, whether electronic or in-person, is limited to public hearings, Council meetings, and Committee of the Whole meetings. Members of the public may observe a Committee meeting, however, unlike Council meetings, the public does not have an opportunity to provide their input or ask questions during a Committee meeting.
