(North Cowichan, BC) – North Cowichan is inviting residents to learn more about the 2025 budget and to share feedback on municipal services and capital projects funded by property taxes, user fees and other revenue sources. Starting with the first community meeting on Tuesday, November 26, department business plans will be presented to Council outlining projects for next year and budget requests.

The meetings begin with an open house at 4:30pm, followed by a Special Committee of the Whole (presentation) at 6:00pm. All three meetings will have the same presentation.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Crofton Community Centre
  • Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the Cowichan Community Centre - Heritage Hall
  • Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Chemainus Fire Hall

“We look forward to getting out into the communities to hear from residents and share some early information about 2025’s budget,” said Mayor Rob Douglas. “Municipal budgeting is a year-round process, and the presentation of business plans in the fall is when Council begins to learn about budget pressures for the following year. Staff will be asking Council to make decisions on budget items and priorities over the coming months, and these are decisions that determine next spring’s property tax rates. We want residents to join us to learn more, ask questions, and share input.”

Feedback heard will help inform Council as they make difficult funding decisions beginning in January. Council will adopt the final 2025 budget in April of next year. Learn more and ask questions at ConnectNorthCowichan.ca/budget-2025
