North Cowichan operates public wharves in Chemainus, Crofton, and Maple Bay. The wharves at Chemainus and Maple Bay are owned by North Cowichan. The Crofton wharf is owned by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and operated under agreement by North Cowichan. The facilities are managed on a day-to-day basis by the wharfinger, with oversight and direction from the Municipality.

SERVICE NOTICE JAN - FEB 2026: Fisheries and Oceans Canada is undertaking upgrades to the Crofton Wharf with repairs to the fire line, flotation, connections, deck boards and bull rails. The wharf is open, and disruptions should be minimal.
Boat launches
North Cowichan has three public ocean boat launches:
- Maple Bay Beach
- Crofton - next to the BC Ferries terminal
- Chemainus - Kin Beach Park
