PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the District of North Cowichan will include Mail Ballot Voting as part of the 2025 By-Election. Qualified electors within the North Cowichan municipal boundaries can register to vote and cast a ballot by mail.

Eligible voters must apply to receive a Mail Ballot in advance of voting. The deadline to submit an application for Mail Ballot Voting is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025. 

All Mail Ballots must be returned to the Chief Election Officer at the North Cowichan Municipal Hall no later than 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 to be counted. Post marks will not be accepted. Mail Ballots received after this deadline will not be counted.

Who Can Vote By Mail? 
ALL eligible voters have the opportunity to cast their vote by mail.

Who is Eligible to Vote?
You are eligible to vote by Mail Ballot if you are registered either as a resident elector (you live in the District of North Cowichan) OR a non-resident property elector (you live elsewhere in BC but own property in the District of North Cowichan). 

If your name does not appear on the List of Registered Electors, including as a non-resident property elector, an Application for Registration will be included in your Mail Ballot package.

How Can I Apply for a Mail Ballot?
You must complete and submit a Mail Ballot Application Form in order to receive a Mail Ballot. Applications are available online at www.northcowichan.ca/election and can also be picked up at the front counter at the Municipal Hall located at 7030 Trans-Canada Highway during regular business hours. 

Applications to vote by mail can be submitted from Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 9:00 am until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 (general voting day). 

How Can I Receive a Mail Ballot?
If you are eligible to vote by Mail Ballot, the package containing your Mail Ballot and instructions will be provided through the option you selection on your application.

When is the Deadline to Deliver a Mail Ballot?
Mail Ballots must be received by the end of voting on Saturday, April 12, 2025 (general voting day) at 8:00 pm. Post marks will not be accepted. Ballots received after 8:00 pm on April 12, 2025 will not be counted.
