Do you know an outstanding athlete, team, coach, builder, or sports leader who deserves to be recognized? Nominations for the 2027 North Cowichan/Duncan Sports Wall of Fame open September 14, and community members are encouraged to help celebrate those who have made a lasting impact on local sport.
The North Cowichan/Duncan Sports Wall of Fame honours individuals and teams that have achieved excellence and made significant contributions to sport, whether in the Cowichan Valley or on the provincial, national, or international stage. The Wall of Fame preserves and celebrates the rich sporting legacy of our community and the people whose dedication, achievements, and leadership have inspired others.
"Every two years, we invite the community to help identify and recognize those who have helped shape our proud sporting history," says Shaun Mason, North Cowichan’s Director of Parks and Recreation. "Whether it's an athlete who has achieved at the highest level, a championship team, a dedicated coach, or a builder who worked behind the scenes to strengthen local sport, we ask you to submit a nomination and help ensure their contributions are remembered and celebrated."
The Sports Wall of Fame is located in the lobby of the Cowichan Aquatic Centre and is administered by the Sports Wall of Fame Committee. Nominees are considered in the categories of Athlete, Team, Coach, Administrator/Builder, and a new category – Heritage. New inductees will be announced and honoured at an induction ceremony in October 2027.
Eligibility information and the nomination form are available at northcowichan.ca/SWOF. The nomination period opens September 14, 2026 and closes January 31, 2027.
