Art Mann Park will be closed to the public on March 13 so that an excavator and trucks can remove excess lake vegetation material from the boat launch and parking lot area.
On February 22, a large mat of floating vegetation broke off the shoreline of Quamichan Lake. The mat, roughly 20 m x 6 m, posed navigation issues for Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA), power boats, and float plane users. The vegetation mat also posed a hazard to North Cowichan’s water quality monitoring equipment.

North Cowichan completed a Section 11 Water Sustainability Act notification to the Ministry of Water Land and Air Protection to remove the vegetation.
