Council Matters for January 23 (Special Council meeting)

A Special Council meeting was called on January 23, 2025 in order to appoint the election officers who will preside over the April 12 by-election.

Corporate Officer Tricia Mayea was appointed Chief Election Officer and Andrea Hainrich, Deputy Corporate Officer, was appointed Deputy Chief Election Officer.

The by-election will fill the seat on Council vacated by Debra Toporowski who resigned in October following her election to the provincial legislature.

People who want to run as a candidate can submit their nomination beginning February 25 and ending March 7.

Advanced voting opportunities are on April 2 and April 8, from 8am to 8pm, at Municipal Hall. General voting day is Saturday, April 12 from 8am to 8pm at Municipal Hall, Chemainus Fire Hall, Crofton Fire Hall, Maple Bay Fire Hall, and the Cowichan Community Centre.
