Funding available for community-led climate action projects

Applications are now open to community organizations interested in being considered for a North Cowichan Climate Action Community Grant. Grants support innovative projects that reduce energy use, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and help communities prepare for climate change. Registered societies under the BC Society Act and associations under the Cooperative Association Act are eligible to apply. 

Since adopting its Climate Action and Energy Plan (CAEP), North Cowichan has taken meaningful steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across municipal operations and the community. Through the Climate Action Community Grants program, funded by the CAEP Reserve Fund, we continue to support local projects that advance climate action. Past projects have improved building energy efficiency, reduced transportation, agricultural and industrial emissions, and strengthened community climate resilience.

The deadline to apply is September 15, 2026. Proposals will be reviewed by the Environmental Advisory Committee, with recommendations submitted for Council’s 2027 budget approval.
