This October, North Cowichan residents head to the polls to elect one mayor and six councillors to lead the Municipality of North Cowichan for the next four years. General voting day is Saturday, October 17, and advance voting opportunities take place on October 7 and October 13. The ballot also includes choices for school district trustee candidates.
“Every vote is an opportunity to help shape the future of North Cowichan,” said Chief Election Officer, Tricia Mayea. “Local government decisions influence the services, infrastructure, and priorities that impact residents every day. We encourage everyone who is eligible to cast their ballot and make their voice heard. There are numerous accessible voting options available, including advance voting, mail ballots, curbside voting, multiple voting locations, and special voting opportunities for residents and staff at Cowichan District Hospital and the Hamlets.”
North Cowichan residents can vote at any of the following voting locations on October 17 between 8am and 8pm:
- Chemainus Secondary School (9947 Daniel Street, Chemainus)
- Crofton Firehall (1681 Robert Street, Crofton)
- École Mount Prevost Elementary (6177 Somenos Road, North Cowichan)
- Maple Bay Elementary School (1500 Donnay Drive, North Cowichan)
- Municipal Hall (7030 Trans-Canada Highway, North Cowichan)
- Quw’utsun Secondary School (2003 University Way, North Cowichan)
Advance voting opportunities will be available on Wednesday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 13 between 8am and 8pm at the Municipal Hall location only.
Eligible voters include residents of North Cowichan and non-resident property owners aged 18 and over (people born on or before October 17, 2008). Eligible voters who are not on North Cowichan's list of electors can register when they go to vote at any polling location. Voter cards are not required to cast a ballot.
