A new website for North Cowichan

News Release

After 10 years, it was time for a refresh of northcowichan.ca. The new website is built on a user centric model, which allows you, the website visitor, to better navigate to the information you are looking for. The old site was built in 2013, was woefully behind the times with functionality, and was structured on our municipal department structure – you had to know which department did what to find the information you were looking for. The site is designed to work on a variety of devices and browsers, and the content should look good whether you are on a tiny iPhone or a large desktop monitor (or anything in between).

This new site is also accessible, meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2 international standard. Users with accessibility needs will be able to access the website using their tools and settings. This includes things such as text alternatives for non-text content, captions, is fully functional from a keyboard, and presents content in predictable ways.

Lost, missing or broken content

Most of the old content is here but may be in a new spot. The menu structure is designed around you, the user, and we hope it is intuitive and is easier to find what you are looking for. Use the search bar (the magnifying glass at the top) if you need help.

If you find something missing or not working right let us know so we can fix it. communications@northcowichan.ca
