January 18, 3pm update
North Cowichan municipal hall, the Cowichan Aquatic Centre and Fuller Lake Arena have closed early due to weather conditions. Staff are working to advise registered recreation patrons and user groups and will work to reschedule classes and bookings in the coming days.
Continued heavy snow has made road conditions difficult and the closures are to ensure staff and patrons are able to get home safely.

- Our full fleet of snow clearing equipment will continue to work through to Friday morning.

Snowfall has eased, and municipal roads are in good shape. More snow is expected tomorrow around noon, approximately 5cm from noon-midnight. Thank you to everyone who has cleared their sidewalks, and for helping out your neighbours.
- We have crews out over night for clean-up
- Residents and businesses are responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks that border their property within 48 hours of snowfall
- A reminder that shoveled snow and ice must be placed on your property, and not on the street
- If possible, wait for plows to pass before shoveling your driveway

About 10cm of snow fell overnight and the snow is continuing to fall, with up to 10 more centimetres expected today.
- 11 plows are working to clear Priority 1 routes first, then remaining roads and streets
