What’s changing?
- Automated collection trucks: These new trucks use mechanical arms to lift and empty carts, making collection safer for workers and more efficient.
- New collection carts: Households will receive new carts designed for automated collection.
- Yard waste: Yard waste will now be collected in addition to kitchen waste.
- Service differences by area:
- Duncan: Switching to a fully automated curbside collection system.
- North Cowichan: Recycling will still be collected manually for now, but garbage and organics will be automated. Bear-resistant carts will be available for a fee.
