UPDATE July 7, 2:45pm

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has now classified the Mount Prevost wildfire as being held, which means it is a wildfire that is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.

Fire crews remain on site to suppress hot spots and monitor the area.

UPDATE July 7, 12pm

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) crews, supported by tender operations from the North Cowichan Fire Department (NCFD), made good progress yesterday suppressing the wildfire on Mount Prevost. Suppression efforts included hand crews, helicopter bucketing, air tanker support, and heavy equipment to establish a fire guard.

Today, July 7, BCWS crews, supported by NCFD tenders and a bucketing helicopter, continue suppression efforts on the wildfire.

The wildfire has grown to 2.23 hectares and remains classified as out of control by BCWS.
